"Six-Million-Dollar Battle Born" article by Rusty was very informative, however it raises a question "Who Is this mysterious person?"
Of course the first suspect is Rusty Goe himself. According to the various issues of the Curry's Chronicle, he has been buying all the key Carson City coins. On the other hand he is a businessman and buying and selling is what he does for a living.
Another member that seems to be in a position of beeing the "Battle Born" candidate is James Sneddon.
Belay Off stated that he will be leaving his collection to his 5 year old niece. He is very active in our club. By the time his niece is 21 she might be inheriting the "Battle Born" collection.
Who is the mystery man with this "Battle Born" idea.
What is your guess?

PCGS Registry Set lists two sets of "Battle Born" Carson City Basic Type (1870 - 1893). The listings are under U,S. Sets. No images and no names.
A unique set is listed under Carson City Morgan Dollars (1878 - 1893).

Greetings Litas
I'm with you on this one. I do wish the owner of the fabulous "Battle Born" "CC" coin collection would step forward...there's so much to learn from him or her.
As far as guess work on who this mystery man (or woman...that'd be a surprise, wouldn't it?!), one clue that was already given...the owner is a Nevada native. I believe that leaves Rusty out as I'm almost certain that he was born in California. James Sneddon lives in Wyoming and I'm almost 100% certain that he was not born in Nevada. Another clue to is that our mystery owner is a member of our C4OA.
Soooo...A NV native....C4OA member....hmmmm.....I wonder who?
So, the intrigue continues....
I'd dearly love for the anonimity to finally be broken and have this member attend a "show-and-tell" C4OA get-together to display this incredible collection. Most of us (myself included) have never layed eyes on (in person) many of these special coins. It'd be a treat and an education in itself for all C4OA members and "CC" fans to have this experience.

I just read thru the current issue of Currys Chronicle. It is quite the achievement; 13 fascinating articles, particularly, Rusty's description of the incredible Battle Born Collection. I am just as amazed as anyone that a current member of our club owns all 111 examples of the Carson City set. Not only that, but the owner possesses some of the finest known of each series. Is it one of the Life Members? Anyone who can afford the 1873-CC No Arrows dime might have dropped $500 out of his pocket that Rusty used to fund a life membership. Is it the anonymous person who is funding the free one year memberships for kids under 12?
Has he or she posted on the Forum? Has he or she contributed to the 111 week coin project? Wouldn't be cool if it was a lady? The first lady to own a complete 111 piece Carson City set? And more important, if it is a lady, is she single?
OK I will stop now :woohoo:
