You may be aware that Vamquest.com holds online auctions once a month beginning on the first and ending on the 15th. Their 26th auction is underway and they have an 1878-CC VAM 11, Lines in Wing variety for sale now. PCGS MS62. Carson City Dollars do not appear frequently in those auctions. They have a few higher end coins, mostly in the 1878 series. The 8 tailfeather variety gets alot of attention there. But some coins sell at less than $100. There have been 3 Carson City Dollars that have sold there recently that I wanted to recap. In Auction number 23, a '78-CC, NGC 62 sold for $238.50 with the 15% buyer's premium. In Auction number 21, a '91-CC Spitting Eagle in PCGS 62 sold for $354. Then in Auction 18, one of the '78-CC 180 degree rotated dies in ANACS 40 saw some spirited bidding and sold for $213.75. I was an underbidder on that one. They have great photos of the coins, even archived auction photos that you can look at without logging in. Here is an example. Sometimes you can get a decent deal there.

The 1878-CC did not sell. But almost every day, they have one coin up for auction until the first of the month, so it will surface again.
