Ebay is a sad place, even the slabbed coins may not be genuine. An AU-50 would be a nice looking example of that coin. Better find another!

Gar,

You can say that again. If ever there was a place where the term
"Caveat Emptor" is the order of the day, it's on EBay!

From what I have read the Chinese are counterfeiting all coins common date Morgans to rare dates. One of the shops I frequent came across a collections of Morgans and they were all fakes from the common dates to three CC's that were in the group. The three were 1880-CC,1881-CC and an 1882-CC. Real good looking fakes and were just a bit under weight. I only would buy from a reputable dealer and they would have to be authenticated as well.

Thanks Drummer! I should also mention that they are counterfeiting just about everything in all the US coin series. I only wish something can be done about it. I find myself bringing scales and charts to every coin show now.

I agree whole heartedly.....our Government does absolutely nothing to stop this. Can you imagine what the Chinese government would have to say if we were doing the same to them? The counterfeiters are hurting a lot of good people!
