John,
Good stuff on the 1882 CC double eagle. If I understand the analogy of the single malt Scotch it is that the CC double eagles are the single malt and the double eagles minted at the other mints represent the more plentiful blended Scotch. Because of the scarcity of CC double eagles there is far less high grade CC double eagles making the "92% blended" grades of EF-AU more plentiful.
I have eleven different dates of the ninteen CC double eagles in grades that range fron VF to AU. Guess that puts me in the "blended Scotch" catagory with my 1882 coming in at an Extreamly Fine. None the less, I am still very proud of my little set. Stay the course and keep up the good work.

Randy,

I am still working on my Carson City $20 set, too. As you can see from above image we are ready for the Holidays. Does Santa Clause knows that 1891-CC and 1871-CC $20 are on my wish list? A letter to North Pole might help.

Merry Christmas.

John,

If you only need those two dates to complete your Double Eagle set then you are a fortunate guy.

Eleven Carson City Double Eagle dates is no little collection!!

While I do have a few Double Eagles and Half Eagles, I decided to focus on Carson City's $10 gold series first. While the 1870-CC $20 is the key piece as well as the most expensive Carson City gold coin, the gold ten dollar series is the key series to assemble and is proving to be very tough to complete with quality examples.

Well, I do need 1870-CC $20, too. I do not want to scare the Santa Clause with such a request. For now, I will be glad to get the less expensive two, first.
