Hi Belay and welcome back from vacation!

I hope you had a fun one!

Yes...you provided a very nice and clear picture of the famous diagnostic that is found on the reverse of all 1872-CC, 1873-CC and 1874-CC seated dimes.
I really thought almost everyone knew about this important diagnostic.

Image that guy who purchased his 1874-"C" dime....the "C" in this case, stands for "China" because that is more than likely where his bargain purchase coin was minted.

What a hard way to learn a lesson!

Hi garryn,

Your contributions to this forum always catch my interest! Your article here on the 72-cc dime has me thinking more about the people that held other such positions at the "CC" Mint such as the Chief Coiners, etc.

I will certainly be on the look out to examine any 72-cc dimes at the Carson City show and any other shows I attend now.
