Thanks to all for your generous comments. But this story simply wrote itself...the '71-CC dime is an amazing coin/date to research and write about!
Carsonite, I greatly appreciate your detailed reply, which as usual, added some very needed finishing touches of knowledge and experience to the 1871-CC dime posting. I instinctively knew you would have first-hand knowledge of the amazing "alleged" proof coin, but I did not anticipate that I actually had already stumbled on a photo of the actual coin. What a surprise.
Thanks all...

Belay,
You are hands down the top official on Carson City Coins after Rusty Goe in my Coin book! It is an honor to know you and to be able to enjoy your contributions on this CCCCOA forum and at our meetings. First there was the 50 states quarter program, then came the 111 week project! Numismatic stories and research in relations to Carson City minted Coins will never be completely unearthed but contributions such as yours have surely made an amazing impact on all of us!
Thank you again for all you have done for the CCCCOA and the "COWboys"!
