Hi Belay Off
Thanks for providing those beautiful pictures of the 1878-CC silver coinage. I currently own three of the five silver "CC" "1878ers": 1878-CC seated quarter (NGC MS-65); 1878-CC trade dollar (NGC AU-50); 1878-CC Morgan dollar (PCGS MS-64).
Happy coin collecting!

Belay Off,
I thought it was the mine owners who preferred the San Francisco mint because they had a special shipping price from the railroad. I guess I'll have to re-read the Mint on Carson City.

Great article and super pictures Belay. I can't always own one but the pictures are an alternative. Someday I will own one. I read an article on Seated Halves and 1878-CC is one of the great sleeper coins in the set. I have searched many shows and have yet to see one in the New England area. Go CC's.
