1876 Nevada Centennial Medal - So-Called Dollar

Here is an image of the 1876 Nevada Centennial medal for sale on eBay (as of 11-20-10) that GarryN referred to in RandyC's COTW posting on the 1876-CC $20 gold piece.


Considering that the Philadelphia mint struck only 2,526 of these medals and that fewer than that number survive today, this is a rare historical artifact. Today's relatively low prices for these medals apparently reflect the lack of interest in them by collectors.

Finally...a nice picture of the so called dollar, the 1876 Nevada Expo Centennial dollar....I'd love to get one of those

It's a very special piece and an important part of Carson City history.
