C4OA Meeting & CC Coin Symposium - L.A. ANA was created by Carsonite
On Thursday August 6, the Carson City Coin Collectors of America will host its annual meeting at the World's Fair of Money convention in Los Angeles.
The meeting begins at 1:00 p.m. in room 512 at the L.A. Convention Center. This year's meeting features the C4OA's first Carson City Coin Symposium. Four speakers are scheduled to present talks on some interesting topics.
Bill Bugert will speak on 1875-CC half dollar varieties.
Darrell Low will speak on "CC" Liberty Seated coins.
John McCloskey will speak on "CC" gold half eagles.
Rusty Goe will speak on Harold M. Budd, a "CC" coin enthusiast.
This two-hour meeting-symposium promises to be a super time. Please plan to attend if you're in the area.
For questions, please call Maya at 775 322-4455.
I look forward to seeing you.

Others will write in more detail about the C4OA symposium but I just wanted to say how terrific it was for me. I have six pages of notes taken during the topic presentations which will add materially to my growing Carson City knowledge base. I spoke to two of the three presenters afterward and they graciously answered my questions and chatted with me about coins as if I was an old compatriot.
Rusty Goe closed with a wonderful presentation about Harold M. Budd, perhaps the first true Carson City coin collector. For twenty minutes that afternoon, Rusty brought Mr. Budd to life for us with his detailed research and his obvious personal connection with "The greatest little guy who ever lived".
Kudos Rusty...and thank you! I for one, hope you will write more about Mr.Budd.

Excellent symposium. The three coin topics were extremely well done, providing a wealth of information in a brief period of time in an understandable manner. Great presentations by all.

All of us Southgate Coins girls that couldn't be there at the L.A. ANA waited with bated breath for Rusty and Maya to come back so they could tell us all about it.
After seeing all of the pictures that were taken and getting a nice play-by-play of the events that took place, it sounded like it was a blast, and of course, very educational.
