Greetings to all C4OAers and "CC" fans

Today I read an important article in Numismaster.com that I feel should be shared with you....a subject that concerns each and every one of us who attend coin shows, often carrying our precious coins with us.
I have provided a link for this article:

Although not all of us are coin dealers, this article pertains to just about all of us.

There are ongoing discussions of recent thefts and robberies on the Collectors Universe Coin Forum. In 2007, just a few blocks from my home in Niles, IL. , a coin and jewelry dealer was robbed at his home. His 28 year old son was shot dead when he answered the door.

Here is the Coin Universe Forum discussion of it.

Hi Garryn

This is a very sad article you sent me....one that should remind us that we all face this. Security is the key word. I never attend coin shows alone any more and I always try to be as aware as possible of my surroundings going to and from a coins show or a coin shop.
The scariest place for me personally was the 3 block walk in Baltimore - from the convention center to my hotel room. I was approached several times (for "donations") each and every evening after the show....the first night I was alone, after that I always made sure to do that walk with friends.
It's sad that we live in times that are like this, but that's just the way it is...
