Recent Addition to My 10-Piece Type Set was created by Ms. Maya
As you all know, I've been building a ten piece Carson City type set with my mother. About a month ago, I acquired my first gold issue, an 1891-CC gold half eagle, graded AU-58 by PCGS. I figured since you don't really come across rainbow toning in the gold issues, I would have to go for higher-grade lustrous examples. So far, this method seems to work, but now that I'm down to the harder issues, it may take me a little longer to finish my set.
I'm certainly excited about reaching the halfway point in the set, and I'm even more excited that I'm getting to share the joy on the wonderful, new discussion forum. Please, feel free to add your comments to this thread-- whether they're about your own ten piece type set or just some praise about this new website, we'd all like to hear from you!

Having seen the coins you acquired for your 10-piece "CC" type set, I have to say that you do have good taste. You always seemed to pick the silver coins with some of the most beautiful toning. lol... I was wondering what you were going to do about the gold coins, considering that gold coins don't get the beautiful rainbow color toning to them. But, now I see you will just have to go with luster... I will cost a pretty penny... good luck with that. Even if it takes you longer, it will surely be a beautiful set when it's complete.
Unfortunately for me, I don't think I can get that kind of help from my parents... they pay for my schooling instead .
However, with all that I have learned (and will continue learning) about "CC" coins, I see myself starting my own collection in the future. It would make for some nice diversity in an investment portfolio... not to mention that it would be LOTS of fun .

No, so far I only have the dime, twenty-cent piece, quarter, Morgan dollar, and the half eagle. Half way there!

Maya,
In veiwing your other coins you have in your CC type set are you staying with highend AU and MS coins to finish off your set? By the way you have the best job in the world ( my opinion ). I have started a CC type set but the conditions are only VF. Good Luck with your set.

I am new to C4OA and this is my first post. Also, I believe these boards are a recent addition. If so, great.
Is your set registered at PCGS? I have a basic set registered at PCGS that I started last week. Initially, my interest was for the most part in CC Morgans, NO Morgans, and some CC gold. I actually discovered the Basic set designation by accident when surfing the PCGS Registry. It fit my gold perfectly. I am going to be posting complete pics (all my sets) before the end of June. This set is called "Silverado Colt".
Do you have pics posted here or at PCGS if registered?
