Wow! I would not have imagined the degeneration of the case's materials could affect a coin in such a short period of time.
I keep every one of my Carson City coins in individual, Intercept Shield boxes, which are then placed in large Intercept Shield storage boxes.

Hi Belay
This little experiment was a real eye opener for me! Anyone who values their beloved coins should always make sure they are in the correct holders. Your Intercept Shield boxes (double boxed) offers the best "state-of-the-art" protection available today.

In his book Coin Chemistry, Weimar White has great suggestions on the preservation of coins and the Intercept Shield. It is a great read and though very technical I enjoyed it very much.

Hi deepsouthspike
This is a bit of a late reply but I've been busy the past few days.
While I have a moment I am taking the opportunity to post these special pictures of Weimer White's great book Coin Chemistry.
I purchased my copy at the C4OA meeting (ANA convention - Baltimore - July 2008). I had the honor of photographing the author signing my book.
