Drummer, and all Carson City coin enthusiasts. There is a great blog regarding Carson City gold half eagles on Doug Winters' website. He talks about the scarcity in mint state examples of three dates that were recently in auctions. His second to the last paragraph is very interesting and I hope that the mystery mega collectors is one of our own Carson City Coin Collectors of America members. BTW beautiful 1879-CC half eagle too!
