Drummer, As the subject of the current COW project, I must say that this coin is one mighty fine example of the half eagle series. Thanks for sharing your fantastic collection with the rest of us 4COAers.

Again my friend, many thanks for your words and your C40A team spirit!
My coin shown in this post (and above in your reply here) is indeed a fine example of this date...many even better examples can be had at still reasonable prices. With our fragile economy today, who knows what examples like mine (and better ones) might realize in the not-so-distant future!
This 1880-CC $5 is still one of the more attainable dates in attractive eye-pleasing condition. I recommend to all, "get 'em while you can!!"

Agreed! I've seen this lovely piece in person and can attest to its quality, as well as the superior condition of his complete CC half eagle set, which the Drummer generously shared with us in person at our last regional C4OA meeting.
