And it's really not brown. I just can't get the knack for taking good coin photos. I'll try again. Darn thing looks like a penny in my pics!

Hi Maryelise
Your pic doesn't look bad to me...all the detail is there. The coloring might need a bit brightening but over-all it's a darned nice shot.
There's simply nothing trickier than taking coin pictures.
That being said, even the finest pics never look as good as seeing the coin live and in person.
I've been working on great coin pics for years...I'm getting better but not as good as I would like.
Rusty takes as good a coin picture as I've seen...he knows some tricks!
...having Adobe photo shop helps a lot too.

Hi Maryelise
This is the coin pic I was referring to in my last post reply.
I think this is a beauty of a coin!
It's quite obviously "been around the block a time or two".....imagine the wild and wonderful story it could tell of its life!

Thanks, Drummer! Tried the flash -- now I have pics of a brown-looking coin, with glare. When I got the coin into outdoor lighting though, I quickly developed a new appreciation for it. It's no prize winner, but it really is neat to look at.
Better stick to taking pics of our three cats! Speaking of which, since you liked my previous cat pic and you're a fellow cat fan...

Hey Mary Elise,
I checked back into this thread this morning, and was astonished to see that the responses have grown to 10 pages! I'm glad to see your post has generated so much interest on the Discussion Board, but I think it's time you separate future additions to this post into threads of their own.
For instance, if you have a question, article, or new coin purchase you want to talk about, create a new thread for it. This allows you to make a new title that fits with the new topic you're on. (Like your last coin purchase could be titled "Got 1876-CC 25c in AG for CC Set".)
Plus, breaking up the threads makes them easily searchable for anyone wants to go back to a certain topic.
It's just the nature of good conversation to want to continue on, but this far into it, the topic gets a little hazy... Just imagine if all of the COTW posts were in one thread, comments and all!
Thanks, and keep up the "CC"-enthusiasm!
