Carson City Coin Collectors of America president and Curry’s Chronicle editor, Rusty Goe, is scheduled to present three lectures in August 2013. If you have attended one of his lectures before, perhaps at a C4OA meeting in the past, you know how truly captivating and educating they can be. Read more to find out attendance information for these “don’t-miss” numismatic events.

As of April 30, 2013, the submission deadline for ads, articles, and letters to the editor has passed for the summer 2013 issue of Curry’s Chronicle. The journal is now complete and laid out, and has been submitted to the printer. From here, we’ll approve the proof, and then prepare for mail-out! (Any ad, article, or letter to the editor submissions received after last month’s deadline will be “bumped” to the next issue of Curry’s—the fall-winter 2013—which is due out in November. The submission deadline for that issue is September 30, 2013.)
By Rusty Goe
A historian named Gilman Ostrander wrote a book about Nevada. He told in the introduction, how he had spent many months in the researching and writing of it. He said he sent his finished manuscript to two scholars for review. He thanked them for their “politely written critiques [which had] rescued [me] from my ignorance in many places.” In spite of all his painstaking research and the high goals he had set for himself for accuracy, he still had much to discover—he called it his need to be “rescued from his ignorance.” He viewed it in a positive way.
It’s that time of the season again—send your article and letter to the editor submissions into the Carson City Coin Collectors of America before the deadline for the summer 2013 issue of Curry’s Chronicle hits on April 30, 2013.
You can send your submissions via email at
If you need assistance in preparing your submission, please contact us at the email above, or at (775) 322-4455.
Here’s looking forward to the summer issue!

Happy Spring!!!
In what looked like a major oversight, Stack’s Bowers Galleries, in its January 24, 2013 Americana auction catalog, omitted Rusty Goe’s name from the team of catalogers that created the company’s historic Battle Born auction catalog in 2012. Stack’s Bowers also failed to cite Rusty Goe for the commentary of his its cataloger used in the description of the 1876-CC twenty-cent piece in the 2013 Americana catalog.
The company issued a statement on its website and in an E-newsletter sent to everyone on its mailing list that admitted the oversight and recognized Rusty Goe’s contribution to the Americana catalog description, and to the success of the Battle Born auction catalog. Stack’s Bowers said it meant no disrespect to Goe.
On page 45 of the November 13, 2012 issue of Numismatic News, you will find a picture of two smiling C4OA diehards: life member Michael Parrott, and club president Rusty Goe.
Their image accompanies an informative overview of the 27th issue of Curry’s Chronicle, the award-winning journal of the Carson City Coin Collectors of America. With the historic sale of the Battle Born collection of Carson City coins in the rearview, along with two stellar club meetings in August 2012, this issue packed a wallop for readers and Carson City coin enthusiasts.
